What has been your journey to becoming a confident woman?

As a curvy full-figured woman, there were times growing up that I despised my body; not because I didn't like it, but because I didn't want that to be all people saw when they looked at me. I didn't want to be the stereotypical curvy woman who is looked at as a sexual object. I wanted to be viewed as the intellectual, beautiful, educated, African American queen that I was. However, I soon realized that despising what God had blessed me with was not doing anything but hurting my own self confidence. I was diminishing my own pride. Everyone else was sleeping at night while my self-esteem was slowly dying inside. It was then that I made up in my mind that I could, and would be, all of the above. I was going to be that sexy big girl. I was going to be that educated black woman. I was going to be that beautiful success story. And every since, I've been making that dream a reality. I've graduated from high school, attended Mississippi State University where I am about to receive my BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering, and I've been blessed to receive a GEM Fellowship that will pay for my Masters at Auburn University. I've also been blessed to model for boutiques, fashion shows, pageants, photo shoots, and now this blog that will be a blessing and inspiration to all full figured women across the nation. God has allowed me to capture something beautiful in my life, and that is the love I have for myself through Him. I could not have encountered this journey alone and it was God that helped me through it.

What advice do you have for other women?

My advice to my beautiful sisters out there, is to love yourself, know your worth, and demand the respect that you deserve. You have to set the standard for the type of love, admiration, and respect that people give you. People will only handle you in a manner that you allow them to. So be proud, beautiful, intelligent, full-figured women, and give this world all that you have with God as your forerunner!
