A Harlem native, Brittany Garrett is the Founder of Dear Fat Girl. Dear Fat Girl is a brand that is dedicated to promoting body positivity among women and young girls through mentorship, workshops, and a variety of events. It is a brand that inspires and motivates women and young girls to be true and unapologetic in their journey to self-awareness and acceptance. By trade, she is Human Services Professional for more than 7 years.

Brittany is an alumni of thee illustrious Morgan State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication. While at Morgan Brittany was a powerful leader. She served on e-boards such as the National Council of Negro Women, Caribbean Students Association, and The Bold and Beautiful organization. In the fall of 2013, Brittany was inducted into the Beta Tau chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc, where she served on the executive board as well. Ms. Garrett states that Morgan gave her an experience that no other place could give. Morgan is where she was able to experience blacks in a positive light working and doing for the community.

Brittany serves as a Mentor, Blogger, Style Influencer, and Motivational Speaker; in not only the plus size industry, but in her community as well. She has had the opportunity to be a special guest speaker at Morgan State University for their annual Morgan Girls Rock Conference, John Hopkins University for the National Love Your Body Day, Howard University, and several other events. She is the Creator of the “Goal Getters Brunch” and has been an influential force among her peers. Her brand helps in the community through service to youth and the homeless population.

In May of 2018, Brittany completed her course work and graduated with her Master of Science in Human Service Administration: Non-profit Management.

Brittany is true example of how one can turn test into a testimony. She is truly the rose that grew from concrete. Being a product of foster care , drugs , abuse on all levels Brittany is proof that your life’s purpose is much greater than your current circumstance and that Broken crayons still color.
